Hi Guys Business has leapt into 2011 and I see that they  are making a movie of the book The Slap. Read it - interesting story and I love the casting. Acting is all about telling the story and I love the  casting process. You have a character in mind  and you can audition 300 brunettes in the age of  20-25yrs and only a handful will jump out at  you - for whatever reason - often  unexplainable. Can you imagine Julia Roberts  not playing Erin Brockavitch, Meg Ryan not  being Sally in When Harry Met Sally etc. There  are plenty of great actors but one just is the  character. I was doing some filming for a friend this week  and it was an infomercial type thing he wanted  to put on YouTube. It was his gig but he sure  could have used a presenter. You see the  commercials where the owner of the business  does his own ads? Really bad. Do not under  estimate the importance of the casting process  and make sure you have your character choices  ready when you get the opportunity to audition. Have a great week. Lee EMAIL ME QOS Website - click here  Latest Quiet On Set News ABC TV has confirmed that Alex Dimitriades, Sophie Lowe and Anthony Hayes have joined the cast of the Matchbox Pictures screen adaptation of Christos Tsiolkas' novel The Slap. Production of the eight one-hour episodes will  begin on January 19 in Melbourne. Dimitriades will play Harry, Lowe will be Connie  and Hayes will bring Gary to life. Other cast  announcements include Lex Marinos as manolis,  Blake Davis as Richie, Oliver Ackland as Rhys,  Diana Glenn as Sandi, Toula Tianni as Koula and  Eugenia Fragos as Elisavet. These actors join  the previously announced cast members Melissa  George, Sophie Okonedo, Essie Davis and  Jonathan LaPaglia, who will also star. The Slap is produced by Tony Ayres, Helen  Bowden and Michael McMahon, and the team of  directors includes Jessica Hobbs, Matthew  Saville, Tony Ayres and Robert Connolly. Hi Guys A huge welcome to everyone for 2011. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and  are looking forward to big things in 2011. We are back on track now and apologise for  being a little quiet at the back end of 2010. I  had a family tragedy that kept me under the  weather a little but you have to bounce back  and here we are! We have a huge year in store for yo so stick  with us and we will help you meet your acting  goals. Remember nothing is achieved without a goal,  you don't to a soccer field without having a plan,  you don't start a new job without preparation.  PPP Planning, Preparation, Practice. Here is another one - a sign of insanity is doing  the same thing but expecting a different result.  If you didn't get the result you were after in  2010, then don't continue to do the same thing.  You need to try something different. The highlight of my year was doing the  Australian Tourism commercial and and seeing  so many of my actors landing jobs. Great work  to everyone. Dave has  been personally involved in thousands of  auditions for both US and Australian projects  including TERRA NOVA (FOX/DREAMWORKS),  THE PACIFIC (HBO, DREAMWORKS & PLAYTONE)  , WOLVERINE ORIGINS (FOX), NARNIA:VOYAGE  OF THE DAWN TREADER (FOX), DON'T BE  AFRAID OF THE DARK (MIRAMAX), MATCHING  JACK (CASCADE FILMS), RED DOG (WOSS FILM  GROUP) and the award winning EAST WEST 101  (SBS) series 1, 2. & 3. He has also worked  extensively with actors during US pilot season.  In addition, coming from an acting background,  he can provide important insights to the  casting/audition process from both sides of the  fence. The workshops will run for 5 1/2 hours (incl 30  min lunch break) with numbers strictly limited to  15 per class. Participants will be given  individually chosen scenes and a character brief  in advance, matched to their level of experience  using both US and Australian scenes. Each actor will be given the opportunity to work  one on one with Dave on the prepared scene  and learn from watching the other actors doing  their scenes. The auditions will be recorded and then used as  a reference for our records. In addition to the specific work on auditions in a  relaxed, friendly environment the workshop will  also cover how the casting process works, the  relationship between producers/directors/casting  & actors, audition techniques and approaches,  preparation, what we look for, taking the  pressure off, showreels, promoting and  marketing yourself as an actor, false  expectations and more.
