Info Update # 25, August 31, 2009
Latest News Featured Article Casting Board Film Competitions Select State

Hi Guys

I love getting feedback from all the QOS readers who are out there "doing it". It really motivates me not to be lazy as being an actor can be quite a lonely profession.
Lots of time going to classes, practicing, reading etc. But it is only when you are on set that you feel you are part of a team. The opportunities to get "on set" can be few and far between so it is great to hear how every one is going.

Keep sending me your bits of news - I love it.

Congrats to Damien Noyce, he has been a QOS reader for some time now. His update is below.

Heaps of audition notices in - guys make sure you have good headshots and your e-pitches are professional. That is the first step in landing a short film gig, which in turn is part of the process of building your cv.

If you don't know how to E-Pitch, pick up a copy of Fast Track Your Career from the bookstore, there are samples there.

Have a great week,

Cheers
Lee

Latest Quiet On Set News

Congratulations to Damien Noyce - Quiet On Set Reader
Hi Lee

Just thought I'd drop you a line...

I had an incredibly successful time at the 13th Annual World Championships of Performing Arts in LA!!! Bringing home 5 gold medals, 1 bronze, 2 overall Champion wins, Grand Champion finalist for the WCOPA tv show, an industry award, an offer to study at the New York Conservatory, offers from Hollywood agents and managers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was truly an amazing experience! Everything moved at the speed of light!

The break up of the awards and medals I received:
Special gold medal for the finalist WCOPA tv special.
Gold Medal Industry Award (out of the 1000 contestants they only give out 50, which means that judges thought you were incredibly marketable and see a big future for you career).
Overall Champion in Vocal Broadway 25 years and up.
Overall Champion in Vocal Opera 25 years and up.
Gold Medal for Male Acting Comical 25-29 years .
Gold Medal for Male Vocal Broadway 25-29 years.
Gold Medal for Male Vocal Opera 25-29 years.
Bronze Medal for Male Acting Dramatic 25-29 years.

Considering I only entered 2 sections in both the vocal and acting categories and most entered the maximum, I had an extremely successful run!!!

The Australian team brought home:
2009 Senior Grand Champion of the World.
2 Senior Grand Champion wins.
9 overall category wins.
16 Gold.
21 Silver.
10 Bronze.
2 Industry Awards.

To read more in depth information go to: http://damiennoyce.com.au/blog.html

For more information about the competition:
WCOPA main website

http://www.worldchampionships.tv/site2010/

The next stage now is to work out where to go from here.
What lies ahead home in Australia?
The US Visa and money situation to get back there to work?
At least I have a lot to look forward to!!!
With kindest regards,

Damien Noyce http://www.damiennoyce.com.au

Corporate Team Challenge
Don't Wing it, Sing it!
Why?
* What a way to bond and elevate team morale!
* The performance techniques in singing will help hone your public speaking presence
* Experience delivering a message through story and by heart

How?
* Team Choir Challenge: 4 weekly sessions, 1 performance
* 1 Day Team Workshop: up to 20 per team with a group performance at the end of the day
* 6 week intensive: 8 people, intensive group training, solo performances
* 1 Hour Sing Off: Kick off event or conference showstopper. Get the entire room singing for their supper.

My experience was profound.
My "block" with singing had always been that I thought I sounded terrible. The course taught me that how I sounded was irrelevant. I just had to learn to get out of the way of myself, and express my feelings. The audience reacts by feeling the same way; a kind of involuntary sympathy. This insight powerfully translated into other aspects of my life, particularly my professional life.
I would recommend the course to anyone.
I loved it.
