| | | Hi Guys
We have plenty of audition on the members noticeboard for those of you who are looking to get experience, or who wish to be building their cv.
For those of you who are experienced actors and are freelancing, I can't tell you how much work you are missing out on by not having an a agent. You will not have access to the many casting directors who are busy working and sending out casting briefs. You cannot rely on them to think of you, the casting is just so frantic and all the agents are busy promoting their talent. Who is promoting you?
As you may know, Quiet On Set are now a full service talent agency and after 8 years in the business, we have the contact and the networks to promote our talent. I have interviewed many of the industry's casting directors and they all know that we have fresh new talent - what a blessing for a casting director.
This week we have had many castings come through and I have been able to submit some talent for voice work - just because I was talking to them and their voices fit the brief.
If you are looking for an agent - please fill in the registration form link from this page.
If you have already done that, please send my your cv and headshots. I was sitting looking through all the listings last night, trying to fill briefs. For example - I am submitting one of my young 17yr olds for a role that requires the ability to speak spanish. If you can do that, you need to follow up on your registration.
Some of the other roles I am submitting talent for are calling for talented singers? Is that you? Guys come on, the work is there, you need to get off your backsides and give yourself the chance to shine.
We are constantly submitting for unusual looks and skills, Russians, Chinese, Japanese soldiers, good guys, bad guys, young teens, body builders, islanders, voices, singers, 60+yr olds, hero's and villains. The making of films requires characters of all shapes and sizes to tell the story. The making of television commercials requires "real people" to sell the products and make the audience believe.
"Tomorrow when the world Begins" is filming in the Hunter Valley soon - do you live up that way. If you don't have an agent, how can we find you. Who knows what work will come in today or tomorrow but one thing for sure is - if you are not registered with an agent - you won't know about it.
QOS reader Catherine sent me these questions today. I thought the answers might help you too.
Cheers Lee
Okay - Is there a fee or payment to be part of the agency? No fee for Quiet On Set Talent, but you will be required to be members of Showcast and AT2. If you are already a member, you need to update your records to have QOS Talent as your agent.
What photos would you want? Yes, you need to have a headshot though it can be taken by a friend against a white wall. As long as it is a pic of what you would look like walking into a room - that is fine. No flashes, good natural light. Take a couple in a suit in a shirt etc, to reflect different looks is great. YOU DO NOT need to spend a lot of money on headshots and definitely don't need a model type portfolio of shots. Your headshot is important as that is the first part of the casting process.
If I get paid work, what is the agent's commission and how would I receive payment? We take 10% commission on the paid work that we get for you.
How do you receive briefs from casting consultants and how does that differ from what you receive and do on your website? Yes, we get lots of briefs from the castings agents. They come to us via AT2 and Showcast and I am not permitted to list these on my site as they are under privacy restrictions from those sites. Also I have casting directors ring me directly as they know that we have lots of new faces that they have not seen. We had such a casting listed this week. I have interviewed pretty much most casting directors around over the year so they know me and they know Quiet on Set.
Being a new agency, do you receive the same amount of briefs as the more established agents? We are new but we already have an established reputation in the industry as we have been around for 8 years. It is not like I am just an ex actor who thinks it might be cool to be an agent. We have been working within the industry for a long time already. I am just loading in my talent and we are going to do a big "here we are" type promotion soon. I will work very hard on promoting our talent to the casting directors. We do not sit back and wait for the briefs to come in.
How many people will you be representing? The numbers can't be defined as new looks come in all the time. We only represent talent and will only be a small boutique type agency.
Are you able to do this as well as the website? (I am sure your website is almost self running these days) Yes, a lot of the work comes in via email and it is easy to put talent submssions together via the software in AT2 and Showcast. The work I do on the website is related to the work I do as an agent, it is all about sourcing information and doing lots of reading.
b>What will be the name of the agency? Quiet On Set Talent www.quietonsettalent.com
Will it be a registered theatrical agency? We are in the process of registering with the department of Fair Trading and I have sent the paperwork through. However, they require a $2000 deposit bond and that isn't going to happen this week!.
How would I be contacted by you for castings? When a casting comes through, we submit the talent that we think fits the physical description and has the experience for the role. If you get an auditon, we then advise you. We also do a little extra for our talent by keeping them informed as to the castings that have been happening this week etc. | | | Latest Quiet On Set News | | C31 is looking for content made by the local community.
