Hi Everyone

I have to get this info out as the open auditons for Hairspray The Musical are listed below.

I am flat out doing the new round of submissions for Neighbours, and also a major new musical production that is gearing up to audition in Melbourne and Sydney.

Congratulations to Andy and Glenn who did 2 days on the feature film, Sisters of War up on the Gold Coast this week. The call went out for Japanese soldiers and they responded asap. It was all rush rush and ridiculous lead times but that is the way extras casting goes.

Also congrats to QOS actor Susie Osment who landed a role on the new Aussie Tourism commercial.

I landed a role in the same TVC and look forward to seeing everyone "on set" for a 10 hr shoot this Sunday.

I am so proud to be part of this fabulous campaign. Auditions were a couple of weeks ago and the casting director contacted my agent, so then my agent contacted me. I went down to Sydney to audition and landed the role. I was instructed to dress in character and certainly got some looks as I was walking up the street to the auditions. We also had to sing at the audition which was a new challange for me - but I must have not been too "off key"..lol.

QOS Talent Agency
I have now closed registration for our Agency. I have so many applications to get through - it takes so long. If you have filled in an application - don't worry, I have your info on file and am working with it and will get back to you. We are not taking any more applications as I need to work with the talent we have at the moment.

Have a great weekend.

Info Update #10/2010 Wednesday 21st April 2010
Latest News Featured Article Casting Board Film Competitions Select State

Hi Guys

How is your acting week going.
April is the month where the fatigue sets in.
You come back from christmas holidays, all charged up and ready to make the career break as an actor. You might have given up a day job to dedicate more time to your career, and then 4 months down the track, nothing seems to have happened and your enthusiasm is waning.

Don't despair - my tip would be to read something inspiring to keep you motivated. A biography of another actor would be great. I recently read Michael Caines life story and it is full of tough times, hardship and frustration.

Don't give up. Keep learning and be inspired by the journey forged ahead by others and the growth you will experience yourself, trying to make it as an Aussie actor.

TIP - I recently was practicing for an audition and I decided to do my lines to camera, rather than just learning them and doing them in the audition room.
Wow, what a shock - I was blinking so much. I wonder if I do this when I am actually talking normally, or whether I thought it was heaps but it wasn't.

If you are doing lots of auditions and not getting the roles, then you might need to check your audition technique. Get a camera and have a look at was is going on. Is there honesty in your eyes, is your mouth doing something funny, how does your voice sound when you listen to it back.
All these actors techniques are crucial and you need to know what product (yourself in character) you are delivering everytime you step into that audition room.

Note we have heaps of Aussie actors "stories and journes" under Tutorials area of the members area.

Don't forget to check out the casting board. Doing short films is a great way to get experience for free and build up your cv.

Have a great week.
Lee

ONE-WOMAN SHOW RETURNS TO TACKLE THE POLITICS OF FOOD
Hi Lee
I would like to let you know about my next production!
For those who might recall - I did this show in 2008. It was an incredible challenge and something that I am really grateful that I could be involved in.

It's back!! The playwright is coming back to Australia and we are having 3 performances (1 per week). Funds raised from these go to the Butterfly Foundation - which is an organisation that supports survivors of eating disorders and their family & friends.

Obviously - it would be great if you can come!
But can I also ask - that if you know ANYONE that may be interested in this, please forward this email.
It is the kind of show that seems to be capable of really speaking to some people.
-------------------------------------------------------

"Alana Ruben Free's script is intelligent and emotionally engaging. Donna Brooks gives a captivating performance... Genuinely valuable and inspiring." - Arts Hub Australia

A witty, warm but confronting one-woman-play that tackles eating disorders, self-image and growth, returns to Sydney in April and May.

Following its acclaimed Australian premiere at the Tap Gallery in 2008, Beginner at Life returns for two performances at Newtown Theatre and one at the Bondi Pavilion.

The moving autobiographical one-woman show by New York playwright, Alana Ruben Free is an intensely intimate exploration about a woman's discovery of her soul-body which inspires and challenges audiences with an uncommon honesty about coming into womanhood. The themes of sexuality, spirituality and anorexia flow with a poetic wit and unique perspective that surprises.

Following the New York and Canadian seasons that starred the playwright, the Australian production is again performed by accomplished Australian actress Donna Brooks.

"After Eden, a young mother, walks into a yoga class and finds out that she is disconnected from her body, she embarks on a body-mind-soul exploration, that takes her from yoga to nutritionists to Club Med seeking the cause and solution. At times both witty and shocking, we find there's a lot of Eden in all of us."

"With her fearless look at her own psyche, Alana inspires us to move into the dark places inside and come out lighter and more evolved." - Courtney Martin, author of "Perfect Girls, Starving Daughters"

"This excellent show offers new insights into the anguish of anorexia. It resonated as truth within my body." - Dr Marion Woodman, "Addiction to Perfection, The Owl was a Baker's Daughter"

Alana Ruben Free will again be visiting Sydney for the performances and leading discussion sessions with expert panelists after each show.
