Hi Guys How is your acting week going. April is the month where the fatigue sets in. You come back from christmas holidays, all charged up and ready to make the career break as an actor. You might have given up a day job to dedicate more time to your career, and then 4 months down the track, nothing seems to have happened and your enthusiasm is waning. Don't despair - my tip would be to read something inspiring to keep you motivated. A biography of another actor would be great. I recently read Michael Caines life story and it is full of tough times, hardship and frustration. Don't give up. Keep learning and be inspired by the journey forged ahead by others and the growth you will experience yourself, trying to make it as an Aussie actor. TIP - I recently was practicing for an audition and I decided to do my lines to camera, rather than just learning them and doing them in the audition room. Wow, what a shock - I was blinking so much. I wonder if I do this when I am actually talking normally, or whether I thought it was heaps but it wasn't. If you are doing lots of auditions and not getting the roles, then you might need to check your audition technique. Get a camera and have a look at was is going on. Is there honesty in your eyes, is your mouth doing something funny, how does your voice sound when you listen to it back. All these actors techniques are crucial and you need to know what product (yourself in character) you are delivering everytime you step into that audition room. Note we have heaps of Aussie actors "stories and journes" under Tutorials area of the members area. Don't forget to check out the casting board. Doing short films is a great way to get experience for free and build up your cv. Have a great week. Courses Acting for Screen - Screen Acting Intensive for Actors, May 4 - 5 Convened by highly experienced director Ian Watson this course is designed for emerging and professional actors seeking to move from stage to screen. Screen acting requires differing techniques and knowledge, many of the physical and vocal tools of the actor need to be modified and reinterpreted for the screen. Technical and physical limitations become critical. Join Ian and other actors for this unique six hour session over two evenings in the film studio to gain invaluable experience in delivering exceptional performances for screen. Areas covered will include preparation and spontaneity, relaxation between takes, techniques and tools. The emphasis in this workshop is on developing long running adult series drama for prime time slots. These principles also apply to developing a children's television mini-series or telemovie and the workshop will also be beneficial to those working within these areas. Participants will learn the techniques involved in developing a series, including identifying the big idea capable of powering series drama, writing a concept proposal, what's involved in creating a series bible and how to pitch your show to a network and/or producer.
