Info Update # 12 Thursday 10th June 2010
Latest News Featured Article Casting Board Film Competitions Select State

Hi Guys

Well, just wrapping up the TVI Events with LA Casting Director Greg Orsen and I can only say WOW, WOW, WOW.

The first WOW is for Greg himself. What an amazing teacher and bloke. He gave out the scripts and in true Casting Director form, just nailed the characters with the actors he chose to perform them. It was just so rewarding to see the actors step up and really do well with the character. The beauty of these "American Style Casting workshops" is that you are really under the pump to get the script and find the character, then jump up in front of the class and do the scene.

Greg was just the best and congrats to Alan Nusbaum from TVI for managing to get one of LA's busiest and well respected casting Directors out to our shores!

The second WOW from above is the three prizes TVI gave out to the actors. There were 3 Fully expenses paid trips to LA or NY plus acting training at TVI - up for grabs in each state. All you had to do was be at the Greg Orsen training sessions and the TVI Business of Acting Sessions. 6 hrs of info AND you are in the draw for the amazing prize. Congrats to those ecstatic actors who won these trips last week. Totally, totally amazing and I am sure there has never been these type of give aways ever done in Aus before. Once again, congrats to Alan from TVI and a huge thanks for his generosity.

The third WOW goes to the actors. Guys you did so well and it was awesome to see actors of all levels step up and show the biggest Casting Director in LA your stuff. He took all our names in his address book, he never forgets a face and he has copies of all your headshots. Stay by that phone!! (and keep working on your american accent).

Have you seen the Australian Tourism ad yet? They just did a big launch last week. Can you spot me in there? Also, congrats to another QOS Talent Agency member and QOS reader, Susie Osment is there, she is the gal in the blue shirt in the pub scene, singing the line " where everyone's your mate"! lol. We had to sing that tune so many times and it is very catchy. Here's hoping it has longevity and is used for more than the three year contract. I can smell a "roll-over" coming - fingers crossed!!

If you haven't seen the ad you can check it out on WATCH THE AD ON YOU TUBE ( of course).

Be warned - the song will get stuck in your head!!.

Ok, so what else is happening this week.

Bud Hopes - Casting Associate with Ben Parkinson Casting up in QLD is doing a fab intro course. We have been dealing a lot with Bud recently as he has been casting the feature film "Sisters of War" up here and we have had some actors working on set.
The session is called "On Set Secrets" and Bud has kindly given QOS readers a discount so remember to Quoet QOS when you book.

There are always heaps of courses listed so read on past the casting notices to find out what is happening in your state.

-----------------------------------------

On the casting front - there is so much happening. I have been busy submitting Quiet On Set Talent actors for roles - so many - everyday. I know a few experienced actors that have been freelancing, thinking they know all the casting directors and will be in the know, but I have been putting these guys forward and they are getting work that they didn't know about. Congrats to one of my actors who is doing an audition for an Underbelly movie this afternoon. Fingers crossed for you. There are plenty of projects on the casting front and again, if I have your headshots, you are being considered, even if I haven't got back to you.
I have had nearly 800 requests for representation and at the moment I am flat out managing submissions. Hang in there.

Have a great weekend.

Cheers
Lee
