Info Update # 13 Thursday 30th April 2009
Latest News Featured Article Casting Board Film Competitions Select State

Hi Guys

New info on a new Aussie feature film starting filming next week callede "I Love You Too"
The new Aussie Feature Film commences filming in Melbourne next month.

"I Love You Too" is a romantic comedy about a commitment-phobic man-about-town and a gifted New Age dwarf, who go on a quest to win the women they love.

Written by comedian Peter Helliar and from the producers of Summer Heights High, "I Love You Too" is a story about the meaning of relationships, the importance of male friendship and having the courage to pursue the one you love.
The lead role is being played by Brendan Cowell and he is joined by; former McLeod's Daughters star Bridie Carter, Travis McMahon (Kokoda, Good Guys Bad Guys, Last Man Standing) and Steve Bisley (Water Rats, Sea Patrol, The Big Steal) and model Megan Gale is featured inher first Australian Feature Film Appearance.

Great news for Vic actors/Extras.
Filming goes for 6 weeks.
-------------------------------------------------------

Here is a Q&A Fav for the week:

Hi Lee,
I am ready with new headshots & a showreel to start approaching agents, seeking representation. Is it appropriate/acceptable to email with attached photo & a link to showreel on video.com? Also, is it ok to include both a headshot & a full length shot? Any info would be great.
Thanks so much,
K

Hi K
I would like to say there are rules for headshots etc, but each agent will accept or reject an application depending on your look and experience and how that fits in with the talent that they currently have on their books.

I would not email though, you are definitely best to ring, see if they have open books at the moment, some don't. Also, find out what they charge, if they answer their phone (if they don't, then maybe they are only agenting
part time).
You need to ask them how long they have been in business, don't go with anyone who has not been around for over 6 years.

Also, some agents might want show reels, others don't - it depends on the type of actors that they represent. You defiantly need to be calling and making appointments, rather then just random emailing.

Hope that helps.
Lee
-----------------------------------------------------

Have a great weekend folks.

Cheers
Lee

SOMEONE WHO'LL WATCH OVER ME

"Hilariously funny as well as moving.a wise and wonderful play" The Guardian
" .more Beckett than Costa-Gavras.Instead of exploiting a real-life tragedy to bring a spurious journalistic reality to the stage, Mr McGuinness uses his premise as a springboard for imagining the fantasies, jokes and spiritual credos with which ordinary men might somehow survive barbaric incarceration." Hi Guys

Konnichiwa
I have just got back from Easter in Japan.
Quick trip over with the family, which was fabulous. I had an insight into the Japanese film industry via a martial arts studio near the city of Kyoto. All Ninja's and Samurai's which my boys loved. They had the chance to get up on stage and do a mock fight! Japan is also the animation capital of the world so if you are into your Future Fantasy games and stuff - Japan is the place for you.

Testimonials:

Natela is an excellent teacher, specializing in the Russian school of acting, notably the important acting techniques of Konstantin Stanislavsky. She works with great honesty, integrity, and is an inspirational teacher.

- Tony Knight, Head of Acting, NIDA

In just six weeks, Natela's course and her no fuss, direct approach, gave me the tools and the confidence to power through a gruelling audition process and score a lead role in the upcoming US Telemovie of the week: - Dynasty (Behind the Scenes). I would highly recommend any of her courses to all actors - either amateur or professional, beginner or experienced. No one teaches Stanislavsky like this Lady can!

- Ritchie Singer

Dear Natela! I thoroughly enjoyed every lesson I had with you. In fact I have never felt so inspired for so long! It's as if I have grown my own set of wings! I can strongly recommend your Mechanics of Emotions, Presence and Charisma course to any actor who is passionate about their craft as I am. Michael Chekhov's Acting Technique is the most readily available, harmonious and creative method there is. I cannot thank you enough for teaching it to me!

I've just finished shooting a guest role for 2 episodes on All Saints. It was a lot of work but really fun onset with the cast and crew; they're such a friendly group. After that I'm gearing up for shooting a pilot as one of the main roles for a new teleseries entitled 'The Pub'. That'll happen in roughly a month. Then I have another guest role on a series that's currently in production called 'Rock Chikz', and then I have another role for a feature film called 'Toolies'. Both of those are in August/September/October.
So yeah, really busy! I'm bragging, I know, but I thought you'd like to know that for some of the more intense castings I did use Chekhov, it made it a lot easier to focus on the job. I'm excited for the future and I feel more focused & determined.

TAFTA - ACTING ESSENTIALS INTENSIVE WORKSHOP - 9th & 10th May
Do you want to be seen by a casting director before you are really ready to be seen? Many actors underestimate the value and importance of voice and body training. Acting Essentials gives you the tools you need to be prepared, be inspired, and be easily directed in any acting situation. Become more skilled at linking the separate areas of actor training to create a more "whole" and embodied experience.

During the workshop we will be addressing the areas of breath, voice, body and presence, and how they combine and apply to the overall experience of acting, essentially "connecting the dots". We will be using scenes and short texts to explore these connections, so you will have a system of exploration that you can take away with you and utilise when you need it most. Handouts will be provided so that you can revisit and continue to explore the work as you need to.

THIS IS REAL ACTOR TRAINING, NO GIMMICKS, NO SHORTCUTS.

BE A PART OF THIS UNIQUE TRAINING EXPERIENCE,

APPLY NOW!

Tony Award winning actor Frank Langella (Frost/Nixon, Dracula) on his experience of Lessac Voice & Body Training...

It works, and once acquired it will do the same for you...It's simple to maintain and only strengthens the voice as you grow older."

We have received an overwhelming response from actors, directors, agents and drama teachers. Some have said that they have not only gotten so much out of the day for their career but also for their life. This seminar is not to be missed. An opportunity of a lifetime to shed a few myths, to gain insights as to how to manage yourself in this business, to understand and communicate at a deeper level, to take the work to a new level of certainty, to lift your self worth and gain a greater sense of deserving.
