Movie Extra Tropfest 2010 must be it's first public screening
Your film must be no longer than 7 minutes (including title and end credits)
It must contain the 2010 Tropfest Signature Item (TSI) DICE.

About NAFA Screenplay Workshops:

Since Feb 2006, NAFA has been running monthly script development workshops involving all 3 NAFA subgroups of actors, screenwriters and filmmakers.

This is a service we offer NAFA Members and previous guest speakers.
Many scripts have been subsequently activated for production after their readings.
Note: Given we are a film-based group, so we ONLY read screenplays!

Here's the process we request from writers:
TO BOOK your script for the next NAFA script workshop,
please let me know:
* Title of your script
* Number of pages
* Logline
* Brief synopsis
* Character briefs

Important Notes:
(1) Deadline for script submissions for the next workshop: Thursday 15 Oct 2009

(2) Wheras NAFA Members will always get priority, if Members are unavailable to attend,

this workshop will be opened up to others [ see item # 5].

(3) Screenwriters are requested to bring in enough copies to coincide with the number of characters in their script.

Usually 6 - 8 scripts are required.

(4) If a feature script is being read then that will occupy the whole night.
Otherwise, we usually fit in 3- 4 shorts.

(5) Promotion of the workshop will be as follows:

Why the location manager is the first crew member to get a call!

The aim of this course is to provide students with the theory and skills required for the practical application of the role of a location manager.
This short course is designed to focus on the theory, skills and practice required to select, document and manage locations for all filming purposes.

Students will learn how to research and scout locations including the visual, technical and practical elements required as well as liaising with owners, councils, authorities and other production departments.

Location Manager Chris Strewe has worked in the film industry for over 30 years. After graduating from the German Film and Television Academy he went on to make international award winning documentaries, which have taken him to every continent and almost every island in the Pacific. For the last 18 years Chris has been primarily involved in Film Location Scouting and management.

This has involved over 30 international and national film and television productions. In 2004 Chris was invited to Fiji to assist the film commission in facilitating international production in Fiji. In 2005 Chris established a successful locations business for national and international television commercials to shoot in Queensland, Fiji,New Zealand and Northern NSW. To date, over 300 TVCs have been completed.

Drama-rama Workshop30 Oct - 31 Oct

This session includes:

Character development. Learn what it takes to develop a character and practice the art of "becoming someone else".
Creative movement/warm-ups. Understand the importance of learning how to get yourself into a character and how to create a fun and relaxed environment in which to learn and perform. Also develop an initial awareness of the body/mind connection and learn how to move through space using both your lateral and limbic faculties.
Improvisational drama. Learn how to improvise scenarios based on a few cue pointers and/ or words or objects.
Performance and audition techniques. Discover professional secrets of the stage and camera and learn how to keep calm and not let nerves destroy your audition or your performance.
Accents. Learn how to twang like George W or roll your rrrs like a pirate as Naomi takes you on a world tour of accents stopping over at your personal favourite destinations just long enough to learn how the lingo likes it.
Theatre games. Enjoy some time out with relaxing and enjoyable buffoonery as you get into some friendly competitive thespian sport to round off an intensive two days of concentration.

The Dramarama will be hosted by Naomi Davis who has acted in theatre, film & television and appeared in films such as "Wogboy", "Strange Bed Fellows", "Knowing" & "Tomboys". Short films & television.Naomi is currently working as RMITV Programming Manager for C31 & Casting Assistant & Drama Teacher for Lilly Dawson Casting."
