Info Update # 34 Monday 16th November 2009
Latest News Featured Article Casting Board Film Competitions Select State

Hi Guys

Thanks so much for all your feedback from last week. Yep, ya gotta laugh.

If you missed the story - you can get a copy of last weeks newsletter just click HERE For the link.

The feedback is below.
A few tormented souls took offence and thought I was too harsh - well my comment would be that they are a little too fragile for the acting industry. I mean as actors, we submit ourselves to scrutiny by others on a constant basis. Are we ever good enough - the question is constant. Whilst you might be good enough - you are not right for the role - maybe next time etc. Arghhhh the tortured mind of an actor. It is not an easy job. At times it is like the schoolyard process of lining up and being selected to be on the "team". Who gets chosen first - well that depends on the game you are playing. The tall kid, the strong kid, the fast kid, the agro kid. All depends on the role that you are lining your self up for.

So for those who have fragile egos - do not read any further - go and get a nice secure job when you are well rewarded for your efforts on a daily basis and you do not have to subject yourself to the scrutiny of others ( being the casting director/producer).

For those of you who love the adrenalin rush of performing and stepping out of your boundaries to perform in front of others, or to do a character that requires you to really let go and try something new, become a character that you didn't know was in you, to remember the lines and get it all out even!!!
Well done, I completely understand and my advice is to just stick with - it is not easy but by god it is addictive.

lol yep - ya gotta laugh and not take yourself too seriously!!

Have a great week, heaps of castings on the board. No excuses.

On the Talent Agency front - been busy of course. We are currently submitting our actors for Neighours, major TVC's feature films etc.
Loads of good stuff.

How do you get the work - do the training, get the experience, work hard and get and agent.

Cheers
Lee

CONGRATS TO RACHEL OAKMAN WHO IS "ON HOLD" FOR THE GOULBURN COMMERCIAL!!
The Oakman family went along - submitted by QOS. No agent, Goulburn locals.
Fingers crossed. Well done!
----------------------------------------------------

To all those people who had sudden family members become ill and were rushed to hospital - and couldn't make the auditions I booked them in for - hope all have recovered and are well.
I think there were about 5 groups who must have all met each other in hospital in fact - pretty amazing coincidences really - but lets hope everyone is back up and around.
:) Lee

Hi Lee
Just got home and had to write and tell you about the audition,,,what a scream! It was a cattle call with every man and his dog. There was every sort of person you could possibly imagine from ZZ Top to Pee Wee Herman. Some girls came looking like they were auditioning for a Max Factor add. I just loved every minute. I could be quite happy being a professional auditionee, I really do enjoy the auditioning/casting process.
I came looking just as you suggested. No make-up, no eyelashes, just a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt. Looked like I belonged there. I arrived early, did my paperwork then was put in the line up. Very easy audition. While waiting I enjoyed my favourite past time of watching people. I sure wasn't disappointed today.
Cant wait to see who they pick when the TVC is aired.
Thanks for sending me, it was a great experience, hope I start earning you a bit of money soon.
CG
-----------------------------------------------

Hi Lee,
Wow, now I know why it's impossible to get direct access to casting directros, too many freaks out there hey, as you know I'm serious about my acting, however I am a little confused why did they only want to see people for Goulburn I would have loved to be part of this commercial and Goulburn is only two hours drive from Sydney, it seems a little unfair when their is such a talent pool up here and I definatly have a country look.
Is it because they wanted to save on costs for transport?
Answer
Just logistics - but that is what they specified. There is wardrobe calls and call backs so they don't want to drag people down to Goulburn.
Locals on the spot works better.
-------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for your info for the TVC auditions in Goulburn. Ray & Kelsey are going to have a great time & are very excited especially as this is just the start for Kelsey!!!!(lots of positive thoughts for our girl).

I have just read your newsletter & I wanted to express to you that I felt so bad for you when I read it, you sounded very cranky/upset. I also wanted to thank you very much for your time, as I am one of those amateur mothers who is hoping to do the best thing for her daughter to follow her dream, without being too much of a pest either. Please accept my apologies if I tackled this the wrong way.
Nope - you didn't at all - great work on getting to the auditions - Lee

THE CHOIR -
Written by ERROL BRAY

Itfs that time of the year again! With the national competition around the corner, Miss Lawson is pushing her beloved choir through her rigorous practice schedule. In return for their winning streak, the boys are rewarded with a privileged lifestyle not afforded to the other orphans. But things are changing in the choir. As boys on the cusp of adulthood and as new desires surface, they find that maybe Miss Lawson has taken more then she bestowed. While loyalties shift and revelations unfold, they discover the depth to which they have been betrayed and the violent lengths they will go to protect their brotherhood.

The Choir is a howl of protest at the stifling of young minds by ignorance and bigotry.
