Info Update # 26 Friday 4th September 2009
Latest News Featured Article Casting Board Film Competitions Select State

Hi Guys

John from Tafta has just given me his new listings and I thought I had better get them out to you quickly as his courses always sell out.

Opportunities in Syd for Teens and QLD for the National Actors Intensive. This is an amazing course and I think I might book in for it myself.
Finally - it comes to us QLD actors. Yay!!

Toni Pearon is doing another Presenters Workshop via Toni HIgginbotham Casting for those that missed out on the last course. Don't miss that one. Presenting is a skill that you need to work on constantly. You are always better than you last job but only if you keep practising and DOING!!

Plenty of registrations are coming in for Quiet On Set Talent and we have had heaps of castings come through.

Once you register, you do need to send your headshot and CV and we can then look at what type of representation you are ready for.
I can't stress enough how prepared you need to be as an actor.

You must have a decent headshot - your headshot is your calling card. It is what sells you.
It needs to be current, it needs to look like you would look like when you walk into a room.
(Like an audition room!!)
If your headshot lies, then you might get auditions but you won't get the job as your headshot is selling something that you are not.

So guys, please, actors need to have tools, just like a businessman needs a suit and a briefcase! lol

Have a great weekend

Cheers
Lee

Calling all Melbourne Screenwriters, Directors & Producers! 10 Oct - 11 Oct
"Paul Margolis's workshops will make you sweat buckets, but the pain is all good and the result is what you're looking for, a honed and ready-for-Hollywood screenplay."
MIKE HEFFERNAN, Creative Director, MAGIMATION, Auckland

If you want to get the inside track on how to get your film from page to screen, then don't miss 'How To Break Into Hollywood From 10,000 Kilometres Away' with award-winning US writer/producer Paul Margolis.

In contrast to other screenwriting gurus, Paul is a successful working screenwriter with nearly 30 years in the industry trenches. A member of the distinguished film faculty at Brooks Institute in Ventura, California, Paul has written screenplays for every major movie studio in Hollywood and was recently invited to present two seminars at the Screenwriting Expo in L.A. which also features speakers such as Willian Goldman, John Cleese, Willian Akers, Hal Ackerman, Steve Kaplan, John Truby, Michael Hauge and many more.

Paul's seminar is specifically designed for Australian filmmakers who want to create emotionally powerful stories with universal appeal while expanding their opportunities outside the Australian film market. Paul reveals why having a good story is not enough - and shows you how to develop a personalised strategy for selling your script including designing a pitch that will make US agents and producers say "Yes!"

If you're serious about becoming a successful, working filmmaker with a stake in the US market, then you can't afford to miss "How To Break Into Hollywood"!
